About Our Charity

The aims of our project are simple. We are devoted to providing every local child in Tallinding access to quality education and helping in other worthwhile areas. There is a lot involved to do this, but we’ve broken it down into five key aims.

1.

Build school buildings that are fit for every school age child.

These school buildings are split into three schools: the Nursery School, the Lower Basic School, and the Upper Basic School. Collectively, they are known as the Carter Cycle School.

2.

Support the Carter Cycle School with all their needs.

We don’t just help with the repairs and maintenance to these essential buildings. We also provide educational materials that support the children in their learning.

3.

Assist with other, related worthwhile projects.

As a devoted charity, we understand that our project doesn’t exist in an isolated bubble. We help as much as we can, giving what we can. We help with classes for adult literacy especially for older women.

4.

Build a clinic on the school site

Part of being able to learn is feeling well enough to do so. Our clinic supplies essential healthcare to the school children and local villagers. We also equip and assist in the running of the clinic. First Aid classes for senior pupils run by the Gambia Red Cross, who hold their meetings in the school after hours.

5.

Sponsor children within the Tallinding area

If a parent or guardian cannot afford to send their child to school, we help sponsor them to ensure every child gets access to education.

It costs only £12.50 or €15 per month to send a child to school. This pays for school fees, books, uniforms, and lunches. Many of our sponsored children are orphans or from single parent families so your support is essential.
